For people flying different batteries in the same model it would be great, when a sensor could identify the battery by a RFID label and one could store the battery data (cells, voltage, capacity, ...) in the transmitter. Additionally it would be usefull, to use these data in the alarm settings as comparision value maybe with a multtiplication factor (e.g. 70%).
Another nice Feature would be a usage counter (# of flights, ...).
best regards Wolfgang

... and since the BID chip (from Robbe) is the only existing battery memory chip (and no longer blocked through patents) it would be nice to use this existing memory structure. All required information is already there and can be used. Projects for a BID to NFC conversion are also existing. Mine is working great with my Robbe Twin charger.
There is really no need to invent something different. It would be absolutely useful to inplement the battery memory technology into the RC system as the battery is an essential part of it and needs the corresponding attention.

Hi Wolfgang,
do you have more infos - in english please - about RFID?
By the way:
anybody is welcome to make their own sensors (Jeti protocol is open), and with Lua application for monitoring the batteries, it would be unbeatable feature..

RFID are Radio Frequency ID tags which are often used to identify products for example in logistcs.
See Wikipedia for more info.
Mikado for example uses such a battery identification.

Don't use outdated Robbe RFID-Chips, use NFC tags instead. Adhesive tags are available for less than one € and can be programmed to any content by every modern smart phone with NFC support.

Hi Gerd,
Robbe never used RFID chips. The BID chips are serial EEPROMS driven by I2C. There is nothing outdated it is just wired instead of wireless.
Most common battery parameters are covered by the BID structure.
My solution (code realised by a friend) is using Mifare classic 1k on Metal NFC chips and a MFRC 522 reader.
30mm chips are required to get proper readout results.
The goal is to go along with the Robbe memory structure to be compatible. Any new information (like Ri of single cells etc.) can be added after the BID memory structure.
Best regards
