Moving to Jeti from Spektrum iX12 - DS12 or DC16-II? wurde erstellt von Fortune7

Hello,

I just joined the forum with my first question. I'm moving from Spektrum to Jeti as I'm not really happy with my Spektrum iX12. It functions ok but after a few months use, I'd prefer to sell it and move to Jeti. I fly helis, not 3d and use a neckstrap and thumb/forefinger ("Pinching") style. Due to the present circumstances I can't go and try/feel a Jeti transmitter so I'm asking for advice here, please. Of course, it's always a personal choice and there will be strong views for both, but these are my initial thoughts and questions:
1. I realise the DC-16 is a 'tray' style transmitter which I'm sure would meet my needs with either brackets for a neck-strap or buy a tray for it, but do people use the DS-12 successfully with 'pinching' style and a neckstrap? If so, is it necessary to move or inhibit certain controls / switches to prevent mis-operation?
2. The DS-12 is of course cheaper, lighter and newer and I would think will provide all the functionality I need - if I can use it comfortably and without limiting it to suit my grip. I see that there is a tray available for the DS-12 - would using this bring it to a similar functionality as the DC-16-II? I am attracted to Jeti for its reputation, quality, telemetry and signal resilience. I want a colour screen and the flexibility of user-selected software functions.

If this question has been covered elsewhere in the forum please accept my apologies - I did look but didn't see anything recent.

Many Thanks!
Andy

Hello Andy,
welcome to the Forum. I think your questions are hard to answer, because it is and allways was a matter of personal preferences which kind of transmitter one prefered. I´m used to tray stile transmitter for over 40 years now. I changed to DC14 last year, bought a Jeti Standard Tray. Yes, the heaviest TX I used so far- and the best "feeling" I ever had.

When Jeti brought the DS12 to the market last year I got one, my first hand held TX, because I thought that would fill my need for a light and small TX to use on the slope and in holidays. I copied a first model from DC14 to DS12 and went to the flying field. It was a disaster ! Never used to flying with my thumbs, my plane went all over the place, I thougt I programmed the EXPO in the wrong direction. I fly with the DS12 in a tray and the long sticks now and all is fine.

I think you do not have to move swithes on a DC TX, but in my opinion one can not use it without a tray / nap strap. Holding it in your hands you can not reach all controls with your fingers on the sticks. The way you discribe your expierence any DS TX from Jeti would fit your needs.

I hope that was helpful,
best regards,
happy landings,
Ralf
