Hello

Im trying to use my ds14 as a teacher and a ds12 as student using a 3.5 stereo wire.

Both radios have different firmware version, i understand this don't mind.

In ds12 i go to:
  • system>>configuration >> set PPM con. settings and PPM jack fuction to "PPM8 Positive"
  • advanced properties >>wireless mode/trainer>>mode>>student

And in ds14 when i go to:
  • system>>configuration >> i only have PPM Con. settings set to "PPM8 Positive"
  • advanced properties >>wireless mode/trainer>>mode>>teacher

Problem is i don't have "PPM Jack fuction" on ds14....... i have the trainer addon and i can set to teacher but i dont find reference in any menu to jack connector like in the ds12...

What im missing???

Thanks a lot!!

Hello!

You can add a ppm Jack to the DC14 (I tought the DS14 already has a PPM Jack, Like the DS16) and use cable or Upgrade the DS14 to Dual HF and you can use it as teacher with the DS12 as student Transmitter wirelessly.

Best regards

Hello

Yes ds14 have the connector like ds12, problem is that in ds14 i don't see "PPM Jack function" like i have on ds12 so i don't know how to tell the radio that connector is not for audio is to ouput ppm data....

I have the dual HF but i allways thinked that the radio internally had two TX modules and that addont enable to use the second one as a redundancy... and i did not want to loose that redundancy so i went for wired option but maybe im wrong as i never fully understand the "Dual HF"

Thanks for your reply

Ok, got it

Double PathWireless is to link two receivers, and as i only have one i can not use the sencond tx module so is free to link the ds12 to use as student. So using the wireless trainer i dont loose any current functionality in my model as i only have one receiver.

I tried and works so i assume is correct, please correct me if im wrong

Hello!

The DS12 has only one 2.4GHz HF Module but can be upgraded to "Double Path" (one TX Module will "Talk" to 2 RX). It can't be, Wireless, be used as teacher TX only as student Transmitter.

The DS14 has 2x 2.4GHz Modules 2-way-HF. AFAIK both HF Modules are working also with only one RX bound if upgraded. So the DS14 can be used as Wireless teacher (because it has 2x HF) or student Transmitter.

The Chance to have a HF Module failing while "buddyboxing" is not high i guess and only a "Problem" If you want/need 2 RX installed in your model.

We did several hours teaching wirelessy with different systems and never had a Problem. Other manufacturer only have one HF-Module in their products. I guess a ESC failure or anything else is higher than an inflight failing HF-Module.

But it is your choice using Wireless or Not.
