A touchscreen might be helpful if there are some kind of "virtual multi-switch panals". On a free configurable screen I could control several functions via software switches. Although the pysical number of switches is limited, via software I could set up endless switches and chose if they shoud be linear, proportional or should have memory function.

... what do you think about the possibility to connect via Wifi an external device (tablet, PC with Webbrowser, iPhone, ...) to the transmitter to
a.) have a good, big view for telemetry and
b.) have a bigger display for programming (with touch-function only on the additional device?)

It´s like the descibed function of the new Weatronic BAT-Transmitter.

Best regards
Jochen

You can use the Tx as usual or, if you need a bigger screen (see more options, bigger fonts, touchscreen, .......) you can use your tablet. This idea could be an alternative for the computer programming software, too. :)

Hi Jeti Developer

If the new transmitter will have a highres color display it would be nice when the current GPS-position (telemetry) will be displayed on a map e.g. Google Maps. When also WIFI is available it could be used in conjunction with a hotspot (activate from a mobil phone) to download the GoogleMap region.

And i am sure you don't forget the DS-24... :P

Hi Raf,

first of all thanks for your attention of our opinion in this newsgroup, this is one of the points that really makes the difference between Jeti and other manufactures. :)

Here are my suggestions for a new premium transmitter:

1. Display:
- The most important feature is readability in bright sunlight. I've seen premium-price-transmitters with really bad readable color displays. This is no-go.
- If the readability is ensured, a higher resolution and a slightly bigger size would really be desirable. Not only because of "bling-bling" reasons but also to show more telemetry data at a time and more details in menus and graphs. If you think about video transmission a SVCD (576x480) resolution would be the minimum anyway. Otherwise this feature does not make sense and additional external video displays are used.
- I very much prefer hard buttons to soft buttons (touchscreen). Actuation is more fluent when you have a button you feel with your finger and a clicking feedback when you push it.

2. Software:
- Model memory: Longer model names would be desirable (obviously the DC-16 has a restriction that does not allow longer names). And I whish to have the possibility to sort my models in variable directories (like F3A, Sailplanes, Heli, ...). If you have a high amount of different models you have a hard time searching the right memory without a directory.

3. Hardware:
- A really important feature for me would be the possibility to activate and deactivate the Throttle/Pitch ratchet with a few movements without opening the case. I fly helis without ratchet and planes with ratchet and I know several other pilots doing the same. This would really be a I-MUST-HAVE-THIS-TRANSMITTER feature for me.
- Case: As far as new features do not require an other case I find the existing case ok. But I would appreciate a wider tray case if the display is getting bigger.

4. Implementation of special FPV / Multicopter features:
... getting more and more popular and cannot be ignored developing a new premium transmitter. Schiwo made some good suggestions, I can agree with them.
Of cause a full implementation of mission planning (what is most likely done by android app on phone/tablet) as well as video transmission would be really great. You could get rid of all the extra hardware that has to be installed (tablet, telemetry transmitter, video receiver, video monitor, ...).
But to be honest: You would have a hard time developing all necessary hard- and software, it would rise the transmitters price significantly, delay its rollout and it would require a lot of hardware power. What makes it even more complicated: People using different incompatible systems and you have to determine whether you comply with one existing system or develop an own system (even more work).
I'm using the APM/Pixhawk as well, I think it's the most advanced open source system on the market, the possibilities are stunning.

Thanks for your attention and good luck for the upcomming task.
Regards, Alex.

And one additional hint to voice input:
It's difficult to imagine I will use this feature.
In no case it replaces the pushbuttons of the RC-Technik sticks which are awesome !

With a switch or pushbutton you really decide the exact moment the action takes place, impossible with voice input.
