Hi PW,
OK, thanks, I will give this a try this evening - I am new to the DS16 so am still finding my way around.
This would be a compromise in that it would give me 7 discrete settings of rate rather than a continuously variable setting. It would also leave me with no logical switches left

Hallo,
you have much more than only 7 logical switches ; I think you have 16

Hi,
try and let me know or try this version using a single mix:
Throttle->rudder, main value -70%, "throttle asymmetric mix" is kept checked. Then (in mix detail) assign the "proportional switch" (P3 in mode 1) which is centered. Finally set the desired curve for the mix (applied is only the upper part of the curve). Curve is looking like stairs then.
Regards

Hi PW,
OK I tried both methods.
First I set up a set of three logical switches (only three as it is an experiment ). These become "on" at
L1 when throttle is above -75%
L2 when throttle is above -50%
L3 when throttle is above -25%
What I couldn't then work out was how to have multiple rate settings based on these switches. The Dual Rates/Exponential only enables one to have at most triple rates from a single three position switch. Not sure how you would select multiple logical switches controlling the dual rate/exponential of a single function directly.
However, I did manage to accomplish it by adding free mixes, one for each logical switch. Each mix mixes rudder with itself with a negative %, thus reducing the rudder rate.
So as the throttle is increased past -75%, the rudder rate is reduced by 10%; as the throttle is increased past -50%, the rudder rate is reduced by 20% (two mixes of -10%) etc. So by adding a few more Logical switches and mixes I can approximate the proportional response of the 9Z. Hurrah!
I also tried your second method, but this suffers from being a mix of Throttle to Rudder, so moving the throttle stick actually moves the rudder rather than just changing the rudder rate.
Thanks for your help - i'll keep experimenting!

It's a throttle to rudder mix, however its gain is controlled by rudder stick... Probably you shouldn't use any expo or function curves to make it work correctly.

Slight modification to the above...make the logical switches so that they are in sequence:
L1 ON when throttle between -75% and -50%
L2 ON when throttle between -50% and -25%
L3 ON when throttle above -25%
That way only one mix is on at a time and the rate reduction is set directly by that one mix. A bit easier to understand.
